Blasdell and Lake View, NY: Moving Tips for the Southtowns

Matthew RyanApril 22, 2026 5 min read

Blasdell and Lake View sit right between Buffalo and Hamburg — close-in, convenient, and quick to move to or from. Blasdell is a compact village near the McKinley Mall and Route 5; Lake View is a hamlet of the Town of Hamburg closer to the water. Both are easy moves with a couple of local wrinkles.

Blasdell: compact and convenient

Blasdell's smaller lots and older homes mean tighter driveways and some street parking, similar to the Village of Hamburg. Proximity to Route 5 and the 90 makes it a fast move, but plan truck placement on the narrower streets. Its central location means short drive times to almost anywhere in the Southtowns.

Lake View: closer to the water

Lake View skews a little more spread out, with some properties toward the lake. As with any near-shore address, watch for long or shared driveways and summer beach traffic on Route 5. Otherwise it is a straightforward suburban move.
